

Deadline reports in an exclusive that The CW has picked up Private Eyes West Coast, starring Jason Priestley (Beverly Hills, 90210, Call Me Fitz) and Cindy Sampson (Supernatural, Rookie Blue). Sampson and Priestley reprise their roles from Canadian parent series Private Eyes, and Priestley is also credited as executive producer for the West Coast edition.
Private Eyes West Coast, via Deadline, is a spinoff of Private Eyes, a Canadian detective comedy drama that ran for five seasons. In the West Coast iteration, Priestley and Sampson return to their roles as private investigators Matt Shade and Angie Everett. The series is divided over ten parts, and will air later in 2026 on The CW. Ahead of its release in the U.S., it has already been renewed for a second season by the series greenlighter, Canada’s Corus Entertainment.
The series follows Shade (Priestley) and Angie (Sampson) after they have left their P.I. firm in Toronto behind and settled into a new, quiet life on the West Coast. However, they are left shaken when a chance night out leaves them at the scene of a murder. From Deadline; “A woman stands over her dead boyfriend with a bloody steak knife in hand. Believing in her innocence, Shade and Angie dive headfirst back into the high-stakes world of investigation.”
There is a procedural element to the storyline, as both characters experience the challenges of opening a private investigation firm in a new city; Without the same network of resources, but a determination to continue their crime-solving endeavors, the two Canadians find a new frontier in life on the West Coast.

We are also excited to expand our partnership with Lionsgate, as well as collaborate once again with the Piller/Segan team, who have made Wild Cards [also starring Priestley since 2024] the network’s most-watched scripted series of the year and have created yet another show packed with humor, action and undeniable chemistry between its two leads.”
As listed by Deadline, executive producer and series star Priestley directs two episodes and EPs alongside; Sarah Dodd (Cardinal, Motive), Darren Giblin (Blade: Trinity, Catwoman), Jocelyn Hamilton (Moonshine, Burden of Truth), Jennifer Kassabian (Frankie Drake Mysteries, Hudson & Rex), Shawn Piller (The Dead Zone, Wildfire), and Lloyd Segan (The Boondock Saints, Blown Away). Kassabian and Dodd are also credited as showrunners. International distribution rights are held by Lionsgate.
