

‘Shogun’ S2 is officially in production 🎬⚔

The first season, based on a novel of the same name, was met with widespread critical acclaim. The historical epic broke the record for Emmy wins in 2024 with 18 wins out of 25 nominations. In addition to taking home the top honors, Outstanding Drama Series, Hiroyuki Sanada won Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series, Anna Sawai (Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Pachinko) won Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series, and series director Frederick E.O. Toye (Fallout, The Boys) won Outstanding Directing In A Drama Series. Cosmo Jarvis (Warfare, Calm With Horses) also plays a prominent role.
The first season follows Sanada’s Lord Yoshii Toranaga as he finds himself at the mercy of the Council of Regents, the ruling body after the demise of the previous shogun. John Blackthorne, a wayward Englishman, washes up on Japan’s shore with information that may help Toranaga turn the tide of seemingly imminent defeat.
mxdwn has reported that in addition to Sanada, Sawai, and Jarvis cast members include, Tadanobu Asano (Morte Cucina, Kanasando), Yûki Kedôin (Heirs, The Smashing Machine), Akiko Kobayashi (Cursed Psychic Video XXX ZERO), Takehiro Hira (Anima, Rental Family), Hiroto Kanai (Toyotomi Kyôdai!, Lotus Kitchen), Hiroto Kanai (Aibou: Tokyo Detective Duo, Tamatsuki no Yume), Yuki Kura (Kyojo: Requiem, Distance and Timing), Shinnosuke Abe (A Missing Part, Kazoku), and Saeko Kimura (The Girl Who Lept Through Time, Shogun).
The highly anticipated season two has added several members, including , Ren Meguro (Sakamoto Days, Kyojo: Requiem), Seishiro Nishida (AMI.exe, Shogun), Mantaro Koichi (Unmet: A Neurosurgeon’s Diary, Mantsu no Cinderella), Risei Kukihara (Two Husbands One Wife, Shogun), Ryô Satô (Monsutâ, Strangers),and Takashi Yamaguchi (Accused, Pachinko). Shogun is produced by FX and airs on Hulu.
