According to The Hollywood Reporter, Star Trek: Star fleet Academy created by Gaia Violo (In From The Cold) recently premiered recently on Paramount+ and has already been renewed for a second season. William Shatner (Star Trek, The UnXplained), who was the original actor who played Captain Kirk, added comments about on the new series, Star Trek: Star Fleet Academy on a social media post that was shared on X by The White House Chief of staff. Shatner said in his comment, that he seemed to be displeased with one clip that went viral. As it showed some cast members, Tricia Black (Small Achievable Goals, Wayward), Gina Yashere (Strange Planet, Just For Laughs) and Holly Hunter (Hurricanna, Big Mouth) with the message indicating, “Star Trek 2026…Beyond parody…seemingly reflecting unhappiness over the performers look.”
THR noted that Stephen Miller who serves as Trump’s homeland security advisor, suggested to give Shatner more creative control over the franchise. A few days ago Shatner responded, jokingly, that the issue in the scene was that the character, played by Hunter was wearing glasses. “The fact that they have not cure Hyperopia by the 32nd Century is an abysmal oversight on the writers!”Shatner continued to respond to Miller’s post, “Also, @paramountplus needs to up the budget because I’m sure that a well oiled organization like Star fleet in the distant future could afford more than one pair of glasses for at least this hyperopic bridge crew. Do they pass the glasses around while piloting the ship? Shame on the line producers! That is what you meant, right> I am ready to assume command of the series! Call me!” Shatner not only played the role of Kirk in the 1960’s Star Trek but also directed the 1989 feature film, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, and played Kirk again in the 1994 film Star Trek: Generaltions which included Kirks death.
THR also reported that earlier this month, Elon Musk shared a comment as well on the same post, “Turns out they banned Ozempic and LASIK in the future lol.” Black also added a response, “I’ve seen this exact same comment probably 100 times already so whatever but it’s nuts that the richest man in the world [the world] felt the need to steal the joke, It doesnt get to me because I am comfortable in my skin most days but this one make me laugh.”
