Following a struggle with the flu, the Atlanta-based TV personality suffered cardiac arrest that necessitated her hospitalization. These health challenges were first brought to public attention via a GoFundMe on December 22, shortly before her passing was announced, according to Deadline.
Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, Mickey Lee rose to national prominence as a standout contestant on the 27th season of Big Brother, which aired from July to September 2025. During her eighth week in the house, she was voted out by her fellow houseguests via Deadline. Tragically, her family’s GoFundMe page describes a “sudden health crisis” that has created a massive financial and emotional burden. To date, supporters have contributed over $31,000 toward a $40,000 goal to help cover ICU costs, specialist care, and other expenses not met by insurance.
Lee’s family posted on Instagram today, expressing “deepest gratitude to everyone who has offered prayers, love and support,” and asking for “privacy during this critical time of bereavement,” via Deadline.
“Mickey’s light, legacy and impact will never be forgotten,” the post concludes.
In an exit interview with Gold Derby, Lee expressed a sense of peace regarding her departure on September 4, 2025. Following a 6-1 vote, she noted that leaving early allowed her to “live [her] life a little bit” before the cast reunited for the finale. That season ultimately saw lawyer Ashley Hollis crowned winner during the September 28 broadcast, according to Deadline.
