Netflix has released a slew of images from Harlan Coben’s (Fool Me Once, Gone For Good) upcoming mystery thriller Run Away. Starring James Nesbitt (The Hobbit, Bloody Sunday), Ruth Jones (Stella, Gavin & Stacey), Minnie Driver (Good Will Hunting, The Riches), and Alfred Enoch (Harry Potter, How to Get Away with Murder), the series is based on Coben’s novel of the same name and will once again be set in the UK, being filmed in and around Manchester, according to Deadline. According to the official synopsis provided by Deadline, the eight part series follows Simon (Nesbitt) whose life falls apart when his daughter runs away. After finding her vulnerable and strung out on drugs in a city park, he finally has the chance to bring his little girl home. But it turns out she’s not alone, and an argument escalates into shocking violence. In the aftermath, Simon loses his daughter all over again, and his search to find her will take him into a dangerous underworld.
Supporting Nesbitt and co. are Lucian Msamati (Conclave, See How they Run), Jon Pointing (Big Boys, Sweetpea), Tracy-Ann Oberman (Friday Night Dinner, Toast of London), Annette Badland (Ted Lasso, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), Maeve Courtier-Lilley (Gran Turismo, The Outpost), Ellie de Lange (The Serpent, Arcadia), Adrian Greensmith (3 Body Problem, Metal Lords), Ellie Henry (Hollyoaks), Ingrid Oliver (The Thursday Murder Club, The Hustle), Finty Williams (Gosford Park, Macbeth), Joe McGann (Night & Day, Johnny Jarvis) and Amy Gledhill (Sex Education, Alma’s Not Normal), per Deadline.
Producing the show is ITV Studios’ Quay Street Productions, with Coben executive producing through his Final Twist Productions, according to Deadline. Also executive producing is previous Coben-collaborator Danny Brocklehurst (Fool Me Once, Brassic), who will also serve as head writer. Other executive producers include Richard Fee (The Stranger, After the Flood) and Quay Street founder Nicola Shindler (It’s a Sin, Finding Alice), while Tom Farrelly (Intermission, Lazarus), Amanda Duke (Treason, The Cure), and Charlotte Coben (Dead Hot, Stay Close) will feature as episodic writers.
The series is the latest to follow frequent Netflix partner Coben’s series adaptation of his novel Missing You, which has vaulted into the top ten all-time English-language shows on the streamer since its January 2024 premiere, according to Deadline. Other novels that Coben has adapted for Netflix include Fool Me Once, Gone For Good, The Stranger, and Stay Close.
Run Away launches on Netflix on January 1, 2026.
