We first see a past event with Bernice, with her son asking her to host a Thanksgiving Holiday Feast, which she eventually joyfully obliges. We then see the detectives (Frank being Bernice’s son) heading to the hardware store to talk to her, when Sheriff Art discovers blood, much to the dismay and horror of her son, who tries to rationalize the situation. After the sheriff leaves, Frank heads to the backroom to find the candlelight dinner date still there, with the gift with Ed’s name on it. Frank and Art arrive at Ed’s house to try and get some answers, wandering inside to try to find him. Amidst the trash and dirtiness, Frank stumbles upon the various trinkets and suits made of human parts and skin. Art finds preserved human body parts, and even a human heart in a boiling pot.
Backup and crime scene photographers arrive, with Frank still anxious about the mother not being there, and that she could not have had anything to do with any of it. Suddenly, he springs up, realizing nobody checked the barn, so he runs to check it out. As he does, Ed pulls up to the house. As Eddie is questioned by Art, Frank finds his mother’s body in the barn. He runs out of the barn and beats up Ed before he’s restrained.
After that, we see Adeleine at the diner reading a crime scene book while others talk about her. The owner tells her about what happened with Ed. Next, we see Ed in jail, and the coroners trying to piece Bernice back together. A devastated Frank wants to bury her body. A bunch of reporters gather outside Adeleine’s home, and she reads a statement about how her relationship only extended so far with Ed. She never helped him with his crime.

Ed tries to explain the bodies in his home to Art. He says it’s all a misunderstanding, a mere hobby, and that he doesn’t remember killing anyone, only digging up bodies. Art then questions whether he ate the bodies or fed them to others. Ed says he couldn’t swear to it. Art brings up the heart in the pot, and how the neighbors said he would bring them venison, even though he never went hunting (you get the connection?). After more questions, Ed suggests that they should hook him up to a lie detector so they can straighten everything out. Ed winds up beating the lie detector test.
After Bernice’s funeral, Adeleine pretends to be a reporter and asks Frank questions about what it was like to find his mother like that. Sheriff Art tells her to leave. Frank then joins Art and his family for Thanksgiving dinner, but experiences traumatic visions while Art uses the electric turkey carver.
This was one of the calmer episodes. And by calmer, simply meaning there wasn’t as much murder and dismemberment. It kind of felt like Law and Order a little bit, with the detectives and the sheriff questioning the suspect to try and get answers about what happened. Despite it being short, it was still a decent episode, and a little better than the previous episode.
