Within the post, they addressed their audience directly, saying: “After three incredible seasons, and great consideration, we’re excited to announce that we will be bringing the story of Yellowjackets to its twisted conclusion in this fourth and final season,” they wrote. “We’ve always known there would come a point when the story would tell us it wants to end, and it’s our belief that our job — our responsibility — is to listen. Telling this emotional, wild, and deeply human story has been a profoundly meaningful experience and a true honor for us, and we’re so very grateful to the brilliant cast, crew, and writers who have bravely gone on the journey with us to bring it to life. Most of all, we want to thank the fans who have stuck with us through every moment, mystery, and meal — the Hive is nothing without you! We can’t wait to share the final chapter with you and hope you find it…delicious.”
According to Deadline, the new season was picked up in May and is currently being written, which has reassured fans that the series will have an intended written conclusion, rather than an out-of-the-blue cancellation. Production is currently slated to be in 2026, with a release of the season later that year on Paramount+ and Showtime, and the creators have claimed that they already have an idea for the finale itself and will be directly involved in the finale’s creation.
As one of the longest-running scripted dramas on Showtime, just behind The Chi which will also be ending with their recently approved eigth season. This leaves a gap for other shows to fill, which may influence the conversations referenced by Deadline regarding current talks, with both shows’ creators with Paramount+ on extending their relationship with the company. But regardless of what is said, fans will now be anxious to see what is in store for this series, and if the finale will live up to expectations.
