For our second episode, we get to see a little origin of the chaotic events that occurred before all of New York and the world became a neglected zombie haven. Then, we shift to five years after these events, with new heroes trying to deliver cows to gain asylum in the City on the Sea, to stay safe from the zombie hordes (good idea, but it turns out to be too good to be true).
This episode was definitely a step up from the previous episode. The dialogue wasn’t as weird-feeling, and the delivery on certain lines in this was a little better (not that any of the deliveries in this show are bad per se, but the previous episode had some lines that were delivered in ways that felt a little odd, which this episode improved upon).

Another improvement in this episode was the gore level. There was a bunch of extra gore in this one, and that gives it a few extra points. The art style again brought some interesting visuals for the episode, including the way the water, at points, looked like it was from a mid-90s cartoon. One style choice did feel a little silly. This refers to a slow-motion scene that, for some reason, felt out of place and in place at the same time. Maybe because of the way the blurring looked in it, but it wasn’t as cool-looking as they likely wanted it to look.
The lighting in this episode felt a little more balanced, maintaining that dark and dreary atmosphere, allowing viewers to still see the zombies and details of the world. While the show likely isn’t supposed to be extremely “funny,” there were certain moments toward the beginning that brought a little chuckle, and that brings some extra entertainment to the show. The ending of the episode also didn’t feel nearly as rushed, and didn’t feel as anticlimactic as the last ending.
So, all in all, this episode was a big improvement on the last one. It was a fairly action-packed addition, with a step up in gore, dialogue, and lighting visuals. Honestly, seeing which characters in the Marvel Universe became the things they fought against is pretty cool, and brings excitement to see what other Marvel characters might appear in the show as zombies.
