The final episode starts at the Ohio Journalism awards, where Oscar is talking about the achievement, and we get a quick flashback to when the Truth Teller one in 1971. We then get to Ned and the other employees talking, and we learn Mare has a date to the award show. Ken and Esmerelda try to slink their way into the two empty chairs at Marv’s table, but Nate (the janitor) and Oscar take their place, as they were reserved for them, and they wind up sitting next to Adam, his wife, and Barry. We learn that the guy with Mare is Theo So Cool, who does YouTube videos, and Ned is obviously jealous of the pair.
Skipping ahead a bit, Oscar wins the award for best game of the year, for his print game Mr. Digit, and in his speech, he thanks the documentary crew for following him for 20 years, and Marv Putnam. After we see a little of that tension from Mare and Ned, Mare’s name is announced as the winner of the best story category. After her speech, and talking about her award, they start playing a video to honor the journalists they’ve lost, when Esmerelda interrupts, saying she’s sad for all the dead people, and she starts singing. Detrick’s reporter date is there, and Detrick and Nicole get into a little discussion, where Nicole is a little agitated, because she thought that he was dating others, and that he tricked her into a monogamous relationship.

Ned and Mare go to walk away from the award show, and they wind up crashing someone’s wedding, so they can discuss what kind of things Ned can say for his speech, and eventually, they get caught by the bride and groom. Ken tries to be Marv’s hero by making him choke on food, which backfires, when Oscar steals his thunder, and saves both Marv and his brother. Once the Toledo Truth Tellers award is announced, Ned is supposed to be speaking for them, but of course Ned and Mare aren’t in there yet, and Esmerelda and Ken try to steal the thunder.
Ned and Mare are trying to get there while Ken and Esmerelda are being idiots. Ned and Mare eventually get there, and Ned goes to tell his speech, completely improv, because he lost his cards. Esmerelda then faints to once again try to steal the thunder. Nicole and Mare are talking about how she and Detrick broke up, and he’s seen with the weather lady again. After she walks away, Ned walks and they start talking, when Theo comes in, he quickly and jealously tells them both to have a good night. Ned then joins Esmerelda at the bar, and Oscar checks in on Esmerelda. Ned goes to Mares room, and after some discussions they wind up sharing a kiss. The end scene features Esmerelda making a toast.
This episode kind of went back to the less interesting nature of the earlier episodes, but it was mostly about an award ceremony, so that probably played a part in it. Overall, while this is just the first season, it wasn’t that great, and it doesn’t have much of a re-watchability factor going for it, and it’s not something that would make you want to watch another season of it.
