Wes Bentley has joined the cast of Open, an HBO pilot about human sexuality and relationships from Glee creator Ryan Murphy.
Written by Murphy and Lauren Gussis (Dexter), Open is described as “a very honest exploration of relationships and intimacy.” The series focuses on five main characters: a yoga professional in her 40s, a married couple in their 30s and the husband’s male coworker.
Bentley’s role, according to Deadline, is that of Evan Foster. Handsome but arrogant, Foster is all too eager to share his theories about human sexuality with anyone who will listen.
This is only Bentley’s second television gig, as he has focused on feature films for the majority of his career—from “American Beauty” to “The Hunger Games”.
Bentley is the first to be cast in the HBO series, though more news is expected to follow shortly. Filming is slated to begin this fall.
