The hit sitcom series, Resident Alien delivers a heart wrenching death in its current episode that will change Harry, played by Alan Tudyk ( Wreck-It Ralph, Creature Commandos) forever. According to Screenrant, in the previous episode fans were introduced to Harry’s alien father, Ed, played by Stephen Root (Heads of State, Barry), who holds his only way to turn back into an alien, but would need to kill a human. In the end, Harry kills his father after he held Max, played by Judah Prehn (Mythic Quest, Kinderwood) hostage.
Root goes into detail with Screenrant about the significance of the episode and states,” Yeah, and I think it’s the crux of the episode is that the alien dad, me, dealing with him as an alien and as a human. Which one are you going to be? Because they’re two different ethics systems, and I know what I want you to be. I want you to be an alien and stop all this nonsense and kill everybody. But at this point, he’s more human than alien. So it was a nice dichotomy to work on.”
Root also told Screenrant about the importance of his character’s death and the impact it will have on Harry,”My death does have an emotional gut punch because you’re still seeing fratricide. Laughs And it’s bizarre, it’s the last thing that he would expect. We did a couple of passes with it, but I think what they used was the close-up of us getting together with that poker, it was really well-staged and well-done.”
According to Screenrant, this daring decision by Harry symbolizes him leaving behind his alien past, solidifying his future role as a protector of Earth from not only the Mantid, but all other alien forces. All episodes and seasons of Resident Alien can be stream on Peacock and SYFY.
