

According to Deadline, Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live, The Secret Life of Pets) has landed a lead role alongside Tracy Morgan (30 Rock, Little Man) in NBC’s upcoming comedy pilot, created by Tina Fey (30 Rock, Mean Girls), Robert Carlock (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Mulligan) and Sam Means (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Mulligan). The show is written by Carlock and Means with Rhys Thomas (Dodger, The Life of Rock with Brian Pern) as director.
Deadline reported on Moynihan’s shared credits with many of the show’s cast and crew. Moynihan was a part of the iconic sketch show Saturday Night Live with collaborators Morgan, Fey, Carlock and Means. He also appeared in the series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and was a part of the Mr.Mayor cast which were both produced and created by Fey and Carlock. He was featured in episodes of NBC comedy 30 Rock which was also created and starred Tina Fey and worked on by Means.
The NBC pilot stars Morgan as Reggie, a fallen ex-football star determined to restore his reputation, and Moynihan as Gator, his former teammate and close friend. There is no available information about the show’s title, release date or other cast members.
According to Deadline, Fey, Carlock, and Means, who have overall deals at Universal Television, executive produce the series along with Morgan, Eric Gurian (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, Mean Girls) and David Miner (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, The Onion Movie). Thomas serves as an executive producer solely for the pilot. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, produces the project in partnership with Little Stranger, Bevel Gears, and 3 Arts.
Moynihan was an SNL cast member for the duration of nine seasons and has a recurring role in the CBS show NCIS:Origins. Moynihan is also working on his upcoming project Hoppers, an animated Pixar movie that has a 2026 expected release date. Moynihan is represented by Provissiero Entertainment, UTA, and the law firm Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
