According to ComicBook, Jenna Ortega (The Fallout) star of Netflix’s Wednesday commented on what will come from the series’s second season. While speaking with Collider the star of the series stated how the new season will take on a more creative approach to its horror elements. This is due to the production team being granted greater creative freedom.
“Visually, I can say we have some of the most fun we’ve ever had,” Ortega explained during her interview. “It’s crazy to talk about one frame like this, but there is a frame of Pugsley rolling his eyes back with this contraption around his head—that’s all I can say— and it reminds me so much of Full Metal Jacket. It’s insane. So bizarre.” The actress specifically highlighted the slasher-themed episode as a key element of the new season. “I just feel like there are a lot of scenes and frames, and there’s a whole episode based off of slashers, and we make a lot of horror references.” Ortega also added that the increased trust from the creative team allowed them to execute “bigger, more elaborate sequences.”
Wednesday follows the daughter of the interesting Addams family as she attends a school for outcasts. While at the school she investigates a killing spree that has been happening in the town around her while also coming to terms with her emerging psychic abilities and uncovering secrets about her family’s past.
The cast of the series includes Ortega as Wednesday Addams, Hunter Doohan (Daredevil: Born Again) as Tyler Galpin, Emma Myers (Family Switch) as Enid Sinclair, Joy Sunday (Dear White People) as Bianca Barolay, Georgie Farmer (Of Wolves and Lambs) as Ajax Petropolus, Moosa Mostafa (The Last Bus) as Eugene Ottinger, Luis Guzman (The Count if Monte Cristo) as Gomez Addams, Issac Ordonez (Husky) as Pugsley Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones (The Mask of Zorro) as Morticia Addams and many others.
Wednesday is available to stream on Netflix.
