Rewatch podcasts have been rolled out for many popular sitcoms, including New Girl, The Office and The Good Place. Now, The Big Bang Theory is joining the ranks. According to a Max press release, the streaming platform, along with Warner Bros. Unscripted Television, is debuting The Official Big Bang Theory Podcast on March 17.
As per Max, the podcast is being hosted and executively produced by author Jessica Radloff. Radloff wrote The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series, a book that gives an inside look for fans of the series. The podcast will feature members of the sitcom’s cast and crew as Radloff explores season’s one and two.
Listeners will gain insight into behind-the-scenes moments and untold stories from the team that shaped each episode. Episodes will include conversations with key figures, including director James Burrows (Cheers, Partners) and cast members Kunal Nayyar (A Storied Life of A.J. Fikry), Kevin Sussman (Ugly Betty, Sweet Home Alabama), and John Ross Bowie (Speechless, Jumanji: The Next Level).
According to Max, the debut podcast episode will delve into the rarely discussed unaired pilot, featuring co-creator Chuck Lorre (Two and a Half Men, Young Sheldon) as well as former Warner Bros. Television Group Chairman Peter Roth. Future episodes will incorporate different guests, including Sara Gilbert (The Conners, Roseanne), Christine Baranski (The Good Fight, The Good Wife), Vernee Watson (Bob Hearts Abishola, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air), Sara Rue (Less than Perfect, The Rookie) and others.
Becky Rho, senior director of podcasts at Max, said in the press release “We are thrilled to be partnering with Warner Bros. Unscripted Television and Telepictures on a lookback podcast for one of the most beloved sitcoms of our times. We are always looking to amplify and deepen the fan experience for our subscribers who can’t get enough of their favorite titles on Max.”
The series The Big Bang Theory premiered in 2007 and wrapped production in 2019. Max stated that it was the “longest-running multi-camera series in television history.”
Podcast episodes will be released on a weekly basis, and subscribers of Max will be able to tune-in. Episodes will also be available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Amazon Music.
