While a second season of HBO’s hit series The Penguin remains nebulous, its co-lead is seeking a possible future for Gigante character, Sofia Falcone. Deadline reports Cristin Milioti (How I Met Your Mother, Made for Love) spoke about reprising her role as Sofia in tandem with her on-screen half-sister, The Batman’s Selina Kyle, played by Zoe Kravitz (High Fidelity, DOPE). Milioti discussed the dream role on the red carpet at Saturday night’s 40th Independent Spirit Awards.
“I would love that. I love her and I think we could really get into some real shit,” Milioti told Deadline. “I think we would have a great time.” Milioti’s Sofia, the daughter of Gotham’s monstrous crime boss Carmine Falcone, took center stage alongside Colin Farrell’s (Sugar, The Banshees of Inisherin) Oswald Cobb in HBO’s award-winning limited series. Although the mob princess’s escape attempt was foiled by her former driver, there was a hint of hope in her final scene. Kravitz’s Kyle aka Catwoman, Sofia’s half-sister, penned her a letter. While we don’t know what the words said, imagining these siblings joining forces is something fans of Matt Reeves‘ (Lift, Batman: Caped Crusader) Batman universe would love to see.
The series, which premiered last September, followed Cobb as he worked to climb the bureaucratic mob ladder. After a fatal error places him in the crosshairs of the Falcone family — now led by the vengeful Sofia, Cobb works to steal from Peter to pay Paul in a series of underhanded schemes and half-hearted promises. Farrell is set to continue the role as Cobb in 2026’s The Batman II.
“This [love] is such a testament to our showrunner, Lauren LeFranc,” Milioti added via Deadline. “I think it tows this really incredible line between being believable and then a heightened opera. It allows you to escape and live out your own fantasy of if someone wrongs you, you could really just burn it all down. But you understand why they’re operating from these places of pain.”
The Penguin and The Batman are available to stream on Max.
