A familiar face from a Prime Video hit series will return to the studio in a new capacity. Deadline reports Bosch star Titus Welliver (The Town, Deadwood) has signed a first-look series deal with Amazon MGM Studios. Welliver has served as an executive producer for the series and its spinoff, Bosch: Legacy.
According to Deadline, Bosch premiered in 2014 as Prime’s early hit series, and its longest-running show, with seven seasons. It’s continuation series Bosch: Legacy releases its third and final season this March. But the franchise won’t end there: Maggie Q (The Protege, Designated Survivor) is set to star in another series focused on detective Renée Ballard. That series is set for a fall 2025 release.
“I have enjoyed a wonderful and rewarding working relationship with Amazon for more than a decade,” Welliver said via Deadline. “I am grateful and excited to continue our collaboration to develop interesting and meaningful stories.”
Vernon Sanders, Amazon MGM Studios’s head of television, added: “As one iconic chapter closes with Bosch: Legacy, we’re incredibly excited to begin a new journey with Titus Welliver. His portrayal of Harry Bosch has defined a generation of crime drama, bringing unparalleled depth and authenticity to the role. We’re thrilled to continue our creative collaboration and can’t wait to see what comes next,” via Deadline.
Based on the novel series by Michael Connelly (The Black Echo, Resurrection Walk), Bosch follows Los Angeles homicide detective Harry Bosch. His rogue methods and hunt for justice found him retiring from the police force and continuing work as a PI in Bosch: Legacy. In the latest series, he tackles high-profile cases with the help of attorney Honey Chandler and his rookie officer daughter, Maddie Bosch. Mimi Rogers (Affairs of State, The Rapture) plays Chandler and Madison Lintz (The Walking Dead, After) portrays Maddie.
It’s been an amazing run with this character so far,” Connelly said in a September 2024 Instagram post regarding Bosch: Legacy‘s final season. “There’s that over-used phrase ‘It takes a village’ so I’ll just say it takes at least a whole town to make a show like this.”
Bosch: Legacy arrives on Prime Video on March 27.
