Charmed alum Alyssa Milano is returning to the Warner Bros. affiliated network The CW. However, Milano’s new role on greenlit drama Insatiable will revolve around beauty pageants instead of pagan spells. Enter the world of Insatiable.
The lead, filled by Dallas Roberts (The Walking Dead, The Good Wife), is that of Bob. Bob is a civil lawyer turned pageant coach who has to deal with clients such as Debby Ryan’s Patty, an angry teenager who has deep personal issues of her own. According to Entertainment Weekly, Milano will play Coralee, Bob’s wife, a socialite focused on moving up in the world.
The pilot, from writer/executive-producer Lauren Gussis (Dexter), director Andrew Fleming (The Craft), and Ryan Seacrest Productions in association with CBS Television and Storied Media Group, is based on the true story of Alabama lawyer Bill Alverson. Alverson is one of the most sought after pageant coaches in the nation and has helped mentor multiple Miss America winners. He is known for both his success and the no nonsense way he approaches his role. Per his own words in a 2015 interview with The Telegraph, “If someone is working with me they are paying by the hour, so they need quality time. Many people who have experienced life coaching emerge thinking they are leaders, but when you send them out, they fall apart.”
Between the true story and the chops of Milano, Insatiable looks to be a strong possible addition to The CW’s lineup. Stay tuned with mxdwn Television for more information regarding Insatiable and other updates on pilot season.
